Lessons Tailored to Each Student
Every Fallbrooke lesson is shaped around the individual student — their age, goals, and the kind of musician they want to become. Instruction draws from two deep areas of study: classical piano and contemporary & chord-based playing. Theresa will find the right curriculum that best fits their goals. Every placement begins with a conversation about your student.
Three Pillars of Study

Every Fallbrooke student receives weekly private instruction tailored to their track and their goals. Three pillars anchor the program.
Integrated Music Theory
Practical theoretical concepts are woven directly into the student's regular repertoire pieces right at the keyboard. Rather than approaching harmony as an isolated textbook exercise, basic reading mechanics, key signatures, and analysis are applied actively within weekly lessons to deepen reading comprehension and accelerate retention.
Technique & Musicianship
Careful attention to posture, tone production, and technical foundations from the very first lesson. As students progress, weekly work expands to include sight reading, ear training, and in-studio recording playback for honest self-assessment.
Recital & Performance
All students participate in a semester recital each studio year — a warm, community-focused performance designed to build confidence and stage presence. For advanced students, recitals serve as formal performance preparation; for younger and newer students, they're an encouraging first step onto the stage. Students pursuing RCM certification receive comprehensive exam and competition preparation as part of their regular instruction — not a separate add-on.

Which Track Fits Your Student?
Fallbrooke Piano Academy offers three lesson formats tailored to each student's goals and stage of development. A semester commitment secures your student's dedicated weekly slot and ensures continuity of instruction throughout the term.
| Lesson Length | Best For |
|---|---|
| 30 minutes | Beginner Track: The starting point for newer students. Structured lessons focused on building strong habits, steady focus, and a genuine love of playing. Well suited for recreational learners of any age, or anyone beginning their study of the piano. Young students can start as early as age 6, provided they are teachable and able to focus. |
| 45 minutes | Intermediate Track: For the older or more motivated student ready to work in earnest. At this level, pieces are longer and technique more demanding, so lessons need the extra time to cover everything well. Repertoire is chosen to fit each student that best match a student's level and goals. |
| 60 minutes | Advanced Track: For advanced students working at a high level. Technique takes more time, and lessons also make room to explore theory, history, and the background behind the music. The full hour gives students pursuing exams or competitions the added preparation time that serious performance demands. |
Note: At Theresa's discretion, intermediate and advanced sessions may include in-studio recording playback to sharpen feedback and track progress. Not sure whether your child is ready? Here's how we think about readiness versus age.
“Theresa has provided me with knowledge of piano playing that I couldn't receive elsewhere. She has always been patient and encouraging, and I look forward to every lesson because of this.”
